Gastric Balloon Treatment Cost
The cost of the weight lost treatment is $12,000,000 COP and includes:
The Orbera Gastric Balloon System
Manufactured in the United States by Apollo Endosurgery, the Orbera Gastric Balloon System is currently FDA-approved for the endoscopic treatment of obesity. In Colombia, it has INVIMA registration for use in obesity treatment, making it the gastric balloon with the highest level of safety in a medical device for this procedure.
Endoscopies
A total of three endoscopies are performed under deep sedation with the assistance of an anesthesiologist.
The first is a diagnostic endoscopy conducted before the placement of the Gastric Balloon to ensure that no conditions contraindicate the procedure. This can be done immediately prior to the balloon placement.
Next, a second therapeutic endoscopy is performed for the insertion of the Gastric Balloon.
Finally, a third therapeutic endoscopy is conducted for the removal of the Gastric Balloon, usually at the end of the treatment, generally around six months.
Evaluation and follow-up with the endoscopist
The consultations for follow-up and evaluation of treatment results are as follows: the first consultation prior to the placement of the Gastric Balloon, then 3 days after the procedure, followed by three additional follow-up appointments at 10 days, 1 month, and 4 months after the Gastric Balloon placement, and a final appointment at the end of the treatment.
Initial evaluation and review at 3 months with the sports medicine specialist
These review and follow-up appointments consist of an analysis of your current physical condition and the most recommended physical activity plan to follow during the 6-month treatment period.
Nutritional evaluation and follow-up
During the gastric balloon treatment, the patient must attend an initial evaluation appointment with our nutrition expert and three additional follow-up appointments over the six months.
Evaluation and follow-up with psychology
The patient must attend an initial psychological evaluation and two additional appointments during the six months of gastric balloon treatment.
Evaluation with psychiatry
To begin gastric balloon treatment, the patient must undergo an initial psychiatric evaluation.
Nursing assistance
The cost of gastric balloon treatment includes nursing support for administering medications during the first 2 days after the balloon placement procedure.
The nursing staff from the Grupo de Obesidad will visit the patient’s home for each medication administration, which totals 6 administrations throughout the morning, midday, and evening.
Medications
The treatment includes the provision of intravenous and oral medications necessary for the initial management during the first 3 days, which will be administered by the nursing staff from Grupo de Obesidad.
Gastric Balloon removal kit
The gastric balloon removal kit consists of a needle with a catheter for puncturing and suctioning the balloon’s contents, and a grasping forceps for retrieving and extracting the balloon through the endoscope.
Removal of the Gastric Balloon
The removal of the gastric balloon is performed at the end of the treatment (6 months after placement) under deep sedation with the assistance of an anesthesiologist.
Sedation for the procedures of Gastric Balloon Placement and Removal
These sedations will be performed by an anesthesiologist.
Initial Evaluation Cost
The initial consultation with the endoscopic surgeon to assess nutritional and bodily condition, as well as to receive detailed information about the gastric balloon weight loss treatment, costs 200,000 colombian pesos.
This evaluation determines the suitability of the gastric balloon treatment and ensures that the procedure is tailored to meet the patient’s individual needs.
